Solvang is such a beautiful town with a rich Danish heritage. Named by Sunset magazine as one of the “10 Most Beautiful Small Towns in the Western United States,” Solvang’s rich heritage dates back to 1911 when adventurous Danish-Americans traversed the plains from Iowa to establish a settlement in the golden state of California. When strolling through the streets you can find a plethora of amazing Danish Bakeries to satisfy that sweet tooth or take a bite out of the famous Abel Skeivers found at many shops and restaurants. Solvang is not only rich in history with amazing architecture to look at, it also has the best Danish breweries, Sausage gardens and wineries in town. Solvang has many festivities that go on through the year but you won’t want to miss the Danish Days festival every September and Julefest every December.
